Santa Ana, CA., --
El Centro Cultural de México will host Dia de los Muertos for the third year in a row on Saturday, November 5, 2005 from 5pm – 10pm. This free, community event will be celebrated at the Artist Village Promenade located on 2nd St. between Broadway and Main St. in Santa Ana’s Downtown District.
This year, Dia de los Muertos will have over 20 altars on display constructed by community members from Santa Ana and the greater Orange County. These altars are dedicated to deceased loved ones or bring awareness to a social issue. Altar space is still available and reservations are being accepted via email through Friday, October 28th.
Don’t Miss Out on Celebrating Both Dia de los Muertos and the Santa Ana Community Spirit!
Dia de los Muertos (or Day of the Dead) is an ancient tradition that dates back to prehispanic Mexico. Today, the tradition has been much transformed but its objective to remember and honor the dead and celebrate the continuity of life remains the same.
El Centro Cultural de México is an non-profit, alternative space in Santa Ana where the community can find cultural, educational, and artistic activities that strengthen their identities, develop their talents, and develop a sense of leadership in the community.
